Wine Country
The key color focus for Fall 2013 is motivated by the richness of wine-inspired hues. Think swirling shades of merlot, Chianti, Cabernet and port wine mixing with seasonal colors including ebony, charcoal, rust and olive. Plaids, pinstripes and checks are recolored in vinyard shades. Textured fabrics including cashmere, leather, suede and silk add depth to key items this season.
The Dandy
The term dandy is used this season to define a renewed spirit regarding a color-intense Fall palette that is the foundation for newness in menswear right now. Golden mustards, deep burgundies, leafy greens, majestic purples and lush teals build a powerful color story celebrating the style advancement of the modern man. Pattern messages are important within this trend with a focus on foulards, argyles, windowpane checks and shadow plaids. Texture is key and is defined by coated cottons, fine-wale corduroy, lightweight tweed, wool flannel and pebbled leathers.
color coded
Vibrant color remains a dominant force in menswear for Fall 2013. Think jewel-tone shades of ruby, sapphire, amethyst and peridot as they inject a jolt of excitement into the season. Oversized plaids and checks in black and redcombinations look fresh again. Bold colored outerwear is set to be a big idea – incorporating color blocking, mixed-media and high-shine finishes. Textured details continue to play a key role in addition to cabling, shawl collars, slimmer fits and pattern mixing for sweaters. Look for color to have a broader impact on knit caps, mufflers, gloves, and all-weather boots.
